IQ Pathshala ("we", "us", "our") is an international online tutoring platform operated from India. Our website is located at www.iqpathshala.com. We connect students worldwide with expert tutors across CBSE, IB, Cambridge, A-Levels, AP, and other curricula.

2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Students: Name, email, phone number, grade level, subjects of interest, city/country
- Tutors: Full name, email, phone, city, educational qualifications, teaching subjects, experience, and optionally a bio
- Contact form: Name, email, phone, message content
We also automatically collect: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and session duration through standard server logs.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Matching students with suitable tutors
- Sending booking confirmations and session reminders
- Communicating about your account or application
- Improving our platform and personalising your experience
- Sending educational tips and platform updates (you can opt out anytime)
- Complying with legal obligations
We never sell your personal data to third parties or use it for unrelated advertising.
4. AI Tutor (Gemini)
Our AI Tutor feature uses the Google Gemini API. When you use this feature:
- Your questions are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing
- Your Gemini API key is stored only in your browser's localStorage — never on our servers
- We do not log or store your AI chat conversations
- Google's own Privacy Policy applies to data processed by their API
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on MongoDB Atlas servers with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL). We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption on all pages
- JWT-based authentication for tutor accounts
- Rate limiting to prevent abuse
- Regular security audits
No method of internet transmission is 100% secure. We will notify affected users promptly in the event of a data breach.
6. Cookies
We use minimal cookies only for essential site functionality (session management). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your Gemini API key is stored in localStorage (not a cookie) and only on your own device.
7. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR for EU users and India's DPDP Act), you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectify: Correct inaccurate information
- Delete: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
